Head all over the place.\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 200%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I\u2019m a creature torn. On the one hand I feel passionately drawn to Lyme Regis and always have done. My family took me on holiday there every year from when I was very small. I cried when we had to leave (and sometimes still do!) I\u2019ve walked up that track! That\u2019s not a police station, it\u2019s a block of flats!\u2019 Lots of people enjoying the drama discovered the Jurassic Coast through it. A lot of the estate agents\u2019 details now proclaim, \u2018Broadchurch country!\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 200%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On the other hand I live, for most of the time in a rural, undiscovered part of the world &#8211; Herefordshire. It too has history \u2013 in abundance. It also has wonderful food, quaint villages full of half-timbered houses, friendly people and a real sense of community \u2013 and fantastic myths and legends.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 200%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> It may well be discovered by a television drama audience if they watch the upcoming <em>Midwinter of the Spirit<\/em>, based on Phil Rickman\u2019s supernatural thriller of the same name and set in Hereford city. I love the books and am eagerly looking forward to see how this one transfers to the small screen. (First part airs Wednesday 23rd September 9pm. Watch with a friend. It&#8217;s scary!)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 200%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On a sunny Saturday a few weeks ago, Hubby, dogs and I had a drive round parts of Herefordshire. It\u2019s easy to take what\u2019s on your doorstep for granted and it was refreshing to be tourists in our county.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 200%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We started off in a hamlet quite near to where we live, where we came across this church. It\u2019s enchanting, isn\u2019t it? It has yet more black and white architechture, a pub which could possibly be The Plough and a village green. This one is the exact image of the one in my mind when writing the scene where Rachel meets Kim and chats in front of the war memorial. It\u2019s one of the least populated counties in England. As you can see from the photographs, even on a hot August afternoon, it\u2019s very quiet.
