Pene, the librarian, had organised it seamlessly well and I received a really warm welcome. Gradually the chairs filled and I had an audience of about seventeen. Brilliant. I was expecting three at most!

I wasn’t sure exactly what to say. In the end I decided to chat about where my inspiration came from, a little about writing routines and methods and threw in a few tips for good measure. The hour flew by and I didn’t notice too many bored wriggles. People seemed to enjoy it. I hope so. The cup of tea and delicious cupcakes provided by the Friends of Seaton Library were very welcome afterwards. Millie would have thoroughly approved.

Some interesting questions arose and not the ones I had anticipated. We had a quick discussion on what makes a romance novel, some of us chatted about writing techniques and a love of books pervaded. It’s always good to be with people who read.

Jenny, from the town’s bookshop Owl and Pyramid, offered to sell some Millie paperbacks and had even presented them on cupcake decorated wrapping paper.
