Book news!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The titles for the next three Berecombe books are decided. Can\u2019t share them quite yet but promise to as soon as I can. They were due to be out this autumn but, after a discussion with my editor, it\u2019s been decided to put them out early next spring. I\u2019m currently busy on the edits for Book Two and have nearly finished writing Book Three. Can\u2019t wait for you to catch up with Millie and her friends, and meet lots of new characters too! Enid the bicycle and Bronte the poodle play a big part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

House news!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not moving again (but\u00a0admit to\u00a0still\u00a0being\u00a0addicted to\u00a0RightMove). The edits and writing (see above) took a back seat over the last couple of weeks as\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0been having some building work done. A wonderful team of trusty chaps installed new windows to replace the wooden Edwardian ones. They found one or two treasures along the way. Sadly, not a hidden horde of jewellery, a stash of banknotes or an old master but this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know, I know, it\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0look very exciting, but I think it is.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0an Edwardian nail which was holding in place the bedroom window. Huge and crafted by a blacksmith,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a long way from its modern equivalent. I love the idea that the\u00a0men who built this house trotted along to the local smithy and ordered a pile of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Padding out gaps around the kitchen window were crumpled sheets of The Sun circa 1984.

Not quite as old but just as interesting. The Trident ads (a shop long since gone, I think) are fascinating. Home technology has certainly changed. The latest in video recorders for \u00a3499.90! When we down-sized, we couldn\u2019t even give one away on Freecycle. And who, today, would want a black and white TV?

I had to look up the FSO Polonez. A Polish car manufactured from 1978 to 2002, I\u2019d never heard of it but did once have a Sierra to which it was compared.

Having work done brought to mind While I was Waiting. Rachel certainly found something more exciting when she was renovating her cottage. Remember the tin containing photos and letters which told Hetty\u2019s story?

And while my chaps were fantastic, they didn\u2019t compare to the many skilled Gabriel Llewellyn. And (whispers as I don\u2019t want to upset them) they certainly didn\u2019t look like him either!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
