Hi everyone,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a busy few weeks. I\u2019m currently racing to finish edits on the fourth Lullbury Bay book, hopefully out next year, and am prepping the new series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For research for the new books, I popped over the county border to Cornwall (any excuse!). It was part information gathering, part birthday treat. Managed to choose the days when Cornwall was smothered in snow, ice, sleet, hail and rain. The weather was dreadful. Made the most of it, though, by hunkering down in a cosy pub and drinking excellent mulled cider with rum. Thank you The Driftwood Spars for a very comfortable stay.<\/p>\n\n\n

The last time I was in St Agnes was aged 8 and I can remember lobbing freshly baked bread from hand to hand on the way back to the campsite. It was too hot to hold as it had just come out of the oven! The bakery is still there, as is the lifeboat station and the secluded beach with its craggy cliffs.<\/p>\n\n\n

While away Magpie had a resurgence in sales. I missed capturing its moment as number 14 in Amazon\u2019s Movers and Shakers Chart (thank you to Ian Wilfred who is such an excellent support of other writers and who spotted it). I did notice the book leapt up to 281 in the Kindle Chart. Wow. Thank you readers! Sales have settled now but are steady and I\u2019m very grateful.<\/p>\n\n\n

Also for research I did a bread making course. It was an absolute hoot. A really lovely group of people, I learned lots and came away with a freshly baked soda bread loaf, a sourdough loaf, a dough ready to be baked and a sourdough starter named Derek. Sadly, Derek is no more. He perished in the Aga warming oven which proved too hot and cooked him! Can thoroughly recommend Tamsin at The Little Bread Company in Beer. Haven\u2019t laughed so much in ages. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy November afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n
