As I mentioned in my other blog, on my recent Greek holiday I did little but relax and read.
I loved Rosanna Ley’s The Forever Garden, a dual narrative saga set in Italy and Dorset, featuring a sumptuous Arts and Crafts house and garden (although it was a tad discombobulating reading about Italy when in Greece!).
I also gobbled down Liz Fielding’s Murder in the Roses, the first in a new series of cosy crime novels and cannot wait for the next.
But it was an impulse purchase in Tesco just before I left which had me totally captivated. I’ve found a new favourite author! Bloggy Blog readers, please let me introduce you to Syd Moore!
I adored Witch Hunt by Essex-based writer Syd Moore. I loved its sassy style, the author’s championing of her much-maligned home county and the disturbing history of the Witchfinder General and his bizarre campaign of violence against women considered witches. I loved the book so much I immediately downloaded The Drowning Pool.
Having finished both, I ignored the pile of paperbacks I’d carted along in my suitcase taking up valuable weight and downloaded the first two in The Essex Witch Museum Mysteries. A capable woman, a sexy academic, some seriously scary witchy stuff, humour and a mystery to solve. Reel me in, I’m hooked!
I’d love to hear what you’ve been reading on holiday. Share your recommendations!
Love,
