Summer has finally arrived in the UK – and it’s too hot for me!
I’m a winter baby, anything over 70F and I’m wilting. I’m not on my own, either; the dogs don’t know what to do with themselves.
Any tips on keeping dogs cool in hot weather, gratefully received!
If hot weather is your thing – enjoy 🙂
Love,

I don’t like very hot weather. After watching Wimbledon, I used my umbrella as a sunshade the other day. If it’s good enough for Andy Murray… My current umbrella is white with penguins so it actually looks cool 😉
I’m concerned about my cat who is lying stretched out at the moment. I think they try to avoid getting hot in the first place, rather than trying to cool down. Of course, unlike dogs, they don’t like getting wet, which does cool you down.
The other day I was reading that elephants in Thailand let their body temperature drop during the night so they don’t heat up so much during the day. And some time ago I saw a TV programme showing kangaroos licking their forearms, and the evaporation cooled them down. They also stayed in the shade at the hottest part of the day, which does seem the sensible thing to do. But it’s not always possible.
Hi Agenoria!
Will try licking my forearms …
One tip given to me, is to put ice cubes into dogs’ water bowls. Tried that but Dog Number Two took it as a personal challenge to get them out. Result: a very wet kitchen floor!
