Well, we’ve done it. We’ve sold our beloved home in Herefordshire and headed south. The move wasn’t without incident – is it ever? It was certainly stressful and frustrating – but we’ve done it! The alcohol and chocolate intake definitely rose to critical levels.
We’ve completed House Move Part 1, that is. We enjoyed the process so much, we’re planning on doing it all over again next summer. And if you believe that, you’ll believe anything!
We’re currently living in a little cottage in Devon. It’s in a pretty village and we have a pub within stumbling distance. We’re content. Exhausted but content.
I’ve carved out a tiny bit of space in the box room for my writing cave and it’s very cosy. I have a view over some trees which host a multitude of birds. It doesn’t exactly compete with John Fowles’ view over The Cobb, which I blogged about recently, but it will do.
We’re also not far from the coast but have been so busy we’ve only managed one beach walk!
There’s some gorgeous countryside around and this was taken at Lambert’s Castle (an iron-age hill fort) on a beautifully cold day. The only one we’ve had – the weather has been dismal ever since.
I still can’t quite believe I’m living within a few short miles of Lyme Regis. I really must make the effort to see the Christmas lights which I hear are spectacular this year. Our tree is somewhat less spectacular and is strictly cottage-sized. Still has an elephant on top though!
2016 has been a strange year. So much has been put on hold and life has been dominated by all the stuff associated with moving house. It certainly hasn’t been the most productive year for writing. However, a new year beckons and with it, new books. Speaking of which I’d better get back to the writing cave and get some words down.
Wherever you’re celebrating this year, may I wish you a very Happy Christmas and a new year full of truly wonderful things to read.
Love,
Georgia x
Glad you’re all settled again. Will miss you, but maybe now your creative streak will have the chance to rekindle.
Hi Wendy! Hopefully so but no sign so far 🙁 Any tips?
